Job summaryThis is fixed term post that will provide the postholder an opportunity of exposure to a wide range of paediatric cardiology. There is a possibility that the post could be extended beyond this, depending upon staffing levels and the incumbent's career needs. The postholder will gain experience in all areas of Paediatric Cardiology with the majority of their time committed to participating in the clinical service
Main duties of the jobThe main objectives of this post are:
o Contribute to the inpatient treatment of patients with congenital heart diseaseo To provide clinical support, together with other registrars/fellows to the outpatient clinics.o To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.o To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.

Person SpecificationQualifications / TrainingEssential- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice (or evidence of eligibility)
- MRCP or MRCPCH (or equivalent)
Desirable- For NP5 salary point: At least 7 years' experience in clinical / academic medicine OR post-CCT
Clinical Experience & Skills:Essential- At least 6 months experience of paediatric cardiology
- Demonstrable experience of congenital echocardiography
Desirable- EACVI accreditation in congenital heart disease
- At least 6 months experience in general paediatrics or neonatal medicine at registrar / fellow level
Research & TeachingEssential- Experience of teaching junior medical staff and allied health professionals
- Audit / presentations / delivering teaching at a local level in topics related to paediatric cardiology
Desirable- Formal training in teaching methodologies
- Peer-reviewed publications / presentations at a national level in topics related to paediatric cardiology
Non-clinical skills, leadership & management:Essential- Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
- The ability to take individual responsibility for planning and undertaking own work
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- An awareness of and positive attitude to equal opportunities issues within healthcare and education
