Job description
Senior Clinical Fellow in Geriatrics

The closing date is 24 December 2025

Overview of the Senior Clinical Fellow role in Geriatrics & Rehabilitation. The over‑riding purpose is to support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement and by working closely with the broader Multi‑disciplinary Team (MDT).

This post will be based on the acute geriatric wards at Kings Mill Hospital and the geriatric non‑acute/rehabilitation wards at Mansfield Community Hospital.

Mansfield Community Hospital has three geriatric wards (Oakham, Lindhurst, Chatsworth). Each ward is staffed by one middle‑grade doctor/ACP working with the MDT and supported by a consultant who provides two sessions per week to the ward.

These wards care for frail, elderly patients who have been transferred from acute medical wards at Kings Mill Hospital but are medically fit and may require a period of rehabilitation before discharge to their place of residence.

There are excellent educational opportunities, both formal (weekly medical Grand Round, weekly Geriatric Department educational meeting) and informal. Audit and QIP projects are also available while working at the hospital.

We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as ‘outstanding’ for care and our King's Mill Hospital as the only ‘outstanding’ NHS‑run hospital in the East Midlands.
