Job summary

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine for a fixed-term post of up to 12 months. CTMUHB invites applications for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine.

This post offers opportunities for career development, including Life Support courses, Clinical Audit, Grand Round Presentations, Complaints Management, development and updating of Care Pathways, support and mentoring of medical students and Juniors, bedside ultrasound, and a bespoke weekly consultant-led teaching programme. There are opportunities to continue working with our team and develop your portfolio for CESR application.

This is a fixed-term post for up to 12 months.

Main duties of the job

The post is designed for individuals seeking experience in their chosen specialty while working in Emergency Medicine in Wales. The post duration is 12 months, with a rota including nights and weekends. Responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the Emergency service at Prince Charles Hospital
  • Participating in the initial assessment, treatment, referral, and disposition of patients in the Emergency Department, with an emphasis on paediatric emergency medicine
  • Liaising with other clinical team members and specialties
  • Working a shift pattern including nights and weekends
  • Participating in Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) and Governance
  • Attending senior teaching sessions
  • Teaching juniors
  • Running the shop out of hours, supporting juniors and nursing staff

Qualifications
  • Full GMC/GDC Registration
  • MB, BCh, or recognized equivalent
  • At least 3 years of postgraduate training (or part-time equivalent), including a minimum of 12 months in Emergency Medicine
  • MRCEM/FRCEM Intermediate / Final
Experience
  • Previous NHS experience and familiarity with UK NHS systems and practices
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to team-based and multi-disciplinary working
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current Emergency Medicine practices
  • Research experience relevant to Emergency Medicine
