The General Surgery Department at West Middlesex University Hospital is dedicated to teaching and training junior medical staff, including medical students from Imperial College.

Person specification

Qualifications and Training:

• MRCS or equivalent medical qualification
• Full GMC registration

Knowledge & experience

• Substantial full-time hospital service in the SHO or higher grade since first obtaining registration
• Experience in General Surgery, especially emergency surgery
• Experience of audit and research
• Commitment to staying up-to-date with medical knowledge
• Training in management skills

Desirable criteria

• Additional experience in breast, colorectal, and vascular surgery
• Understanding of NHS organization

Personal qualities

• Adaptability and responsiveness to change
• Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
• Willingness to share non-clinical tasks
• Commitment to achieving government and trust targets, e.g., waiting times
