Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Senior Clinical Fellow in General Surgery, based at Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley District Hospital. Responsibilities

• Supervise the clinical and teaching activities of junior trainees.
• Assess all new patients and liaise regarding clinical care with the Consultant and other colleagues.
• Maintain appropriate clinical progress notes in the case notes.
• Keep relatives informed regarding the progress of the patient and obtain informed consent for operations/procedures coordinating with the Consultant as appropriate.
• Liaise with the junior trainees to ensure appropriate pre-operative work-up including imaging.
• Attend regular operating sessions of the Clinical Team to assist with major surgery and be trained in skills of increasing complexity under the close supervision of the Consultant.
• Assist in operating sessions of other teams and coordinate, assist with/perform emergency operations.
• There will be expectation to do some independent operating lists depending on experience.
• Partake in running outpatient clinics for patients on the 2 week rule suspected cancer pathway.
• Help run our surgical hot clinic for urgent and emergency patients.
