Job overview
Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) trained nurse with a passion for education? We are looking for a motivated and passionate senior nurse to develop the new role of Senior Clinical Educator for SACT within our specialist cancer centre.
Applications are welcomed from experienced, committed, energetic nurses who can demonstrate a proven track record in clinical practice, innovation, leadership, commitment, and an interest in providing training and developing our SACT nurse workforce within both oncology and haematology.
You must be a degree-educated Registered Nurse with evidence of level study. You will have a SACT qualification, post-registration acute nursing experience, with experience and qualifications in supervising and assessing learners.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved with developing and retaining a specialist SACT nursing team across our inpatient and outpatient areas to provide excellent patient care.
Our focus is always on providing the best possible patient care, and our values reflect those of the Trust: Compassion, Delivery, Excellence, Learning, Respect, and Improvement.
The Senior Clinical Educator for SACT will act as a specialist in SACT education and practice development. The expectation of the post holder is to support the inpatient Oncology/Haematology Wards and the Day Treatment Units in the training and maintenance of SACT skills to ensure the delivery of patient-focused, evidence-based care. There is an expectation that the postholder will provide clinical support on all units where SACT is administered, both in Oxford and at the Brodey Centre in Banbury. Some evening and weekend working will be necessary.
The successful candidate will lead in the development of nursing staff through the creation and implementation of relevant education and clinical skills training. They will design and maintain education programmes/training that facilitates acquisition of the necessary skills, knowledge, and competency in Haematology, Oncology, and associated SACT.
As a longer-term aim, it is anticipated that the postholder will ultimately lead in the development of an in-house SACT education course to support staff in achieving competence with the UKONS SACT Passport framework. We would welcome applicants with experience or an interest in becoming a Professional Nurse Advocate.
We welcome contact prior to submission of application. Informal visits are highly recommended.
