Job overview

This post will be within the Acute Directorate (Dartford Locality) and based at Littlebrook hospital. It is a 10 PA per week senior medical role providing leadership to Cherrywood ward, a 17-bed female-only acute psychiatric unit.

The position has become available due to the previous post holder's career progression. Supervision will be provided by the ward consultant.

Applicants must have full GMC registration and a licence to practice.

MHA Section 12(2) Approval holders will contribute to a non-residential on-call rota. Specialty doctors without Section 12 (2) approval are encouraged to work towards it, with support provided.

Main duties of the job

• Support psychiatric services for the Cherrywood ward, a female-only, 17-bed acute psychiatric unit.
• Manage clinical care and planning, including MDT meetings, CPAs, liaising with families, and MHA-related work.
• Participate in daily clinical reviews, discharge planning, and Section 117 meetings, collaborating with the consultant and MDT.
• Prepare reports and attend Mental Health Act Tribunals as needed, with supervision.
• With patient consent, involve families and carers in treatment planning.
