ProblemShared has created strong partnerships servicing several NHS, university, and insurer contracts to deliver high quality ADHD and Autism assessments as well as assessments for learning differences. We offer wrap-around care in the form of psychoeducation, prescribing, educational navigation, and therapy sessions all under one roof.

The Role

Our talk therapy service for this pathway provides up to 10 -20 sessions of talk therapy for a leading insurance company’s members who have been referred to ProblemShared for the Neurodevelopmental Service. Many of these members will have a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD or SpLD.

We are currently growing our strong team of talk therapy practitioners who are highly experienced in working with neurodiversity and learning differences. We are particularly seeking therapists who have robust additional training in working with children, young people and families. Clients will be referred from internal assessment pathways to Talk therapy due to a co-occurring mental health need.

You will

  • Knowledge and understanding in relation to neurodevelopmental conditions, such as ADHD, autism, SpLD (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia) Dyspraxia etc.
  • Experience of providing adapted therapy for neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Understanding of the impact of adverse childhood experiences and psychological trauma on mental health.
  • Knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions to reduce distress caused by mental health symptoms (e.g., distress, impulsivity), reduce the risk of self-harm, reduce anxiety, and reduce self-neglect.
  • Knowledge of planning mental health care delivery.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment procedures and the ability to contribute to a risk assessment and management plan for a patient with mental health needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and its application in practice.
  • Understanding of the requirements of patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to promote robust clinical governance by complying with agreed organisation, statutory policies, and clinical guidance.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and accept direction and leadership in carrying out duties.
  • Ability to work under pressure, use own initiative, and organize and prioritize own workload while recognising limits of own practice.
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records in line with company guidance and policy.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with an enthusiastic approach to the provision of high-quality and safe care delivery.

Desirable:

  • Awareness of psychological & psychiatric models of care and treatment.
  • Awareness of research and evidence-based practice in the designated field/ modality of therapy.
  • Clinical governance and supervision of other team members.
  • Experience of working in neurodevelopmental service.

What we are looking for

Core training

Essential:

  • Full training as a talking therapist to Post Graduate Diploma level or above.
  • Minimum of two years post qualification supervised practice.
  • Full accreditation with a recognised professional body such as HCPC, BABCP, UKCP (Registered), BACP (Accredited) psychotherapist with a Level 7 psychotherapyqualification.
  • Completed full professional training in a recognised Talk Therapy modality to Postgraduate Diploma level or higher (Psychological therapist/Psychotherapist), orClinical/Counselling Psychologist.
  • Robust and demonstrated significant experience of working with Neurodiverse populations with evidenced specialist training or experience.
  • Experience of working to NICE guidelines for a range of common mental health needs such as anxiety and depression.
  • 2 years' experience delivering therapeutic intervention to children and young people. A minimum of two years post-qualification, supervised clinical practice.
  • Strong clinical report writing skills, including the ability to produce clear, accurate, and timely documentation in line with professional and legal standards.
  • Proficient in remote/online working, with confidence using digital platforms and clinical technology to deliver therapy securely and effectively.
  • Evidence of Current Professional Indemnity Insurance.
  • Enhanced DBS will be required.


Desirable:

  • Full training to Post Graduate Diploma level or above in working with children, young people and/or families
  • Full training to Diploma level or above in CBT, CFT, IPT, DIT, CAT,
  • Core mental health profession e.g. (Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Practitioner Psychologist)
  • Training in ADHD Behavioural Coaching

Experience

Essential:

  • Demonstrated significant experience working with neurodiverse populations, with evidenced specialist training or experience.
  • Experience working to NICE guidelines for a range of common mental health needsfor adults and children and young people.
  • Experience providing direct care to patients with mental health needs where there is the presence of neurodevelopmental differences.
  • Experience working with patients who present a risk to themselves or others.
  • Experience working within a biopsychosocial model and a recovery-focused approach.
  • Experience working in a community setting as an autonomous independent practitioner

Desirable:

  • Experience working with children and young people who have mental health needs.
  • Experience contributing to the delivery of biopsychosocial interventions (e.g., psychology interventions, occupational therapy groups).
