Job summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust in Stoke Mandeville invites applications for a Senior Clinical Coder (Band 5) home-based. The post offers flexible working and 37.5 hours per week, with a permanent contract and opportunities to progress within the Clinical Coding Department.

The successful candidate will hold ACC status or be working towards it, possess NHS coding experience, and demonstrate accuracy in ICD-10 and OPCS-4 coding, with strong attention to detail and IT skills.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE or equivalent to include English & Maths
• Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) having passed the National Clinical Coding qualification
• Evidence of CPD and attendance at clinical coding refresher courses
• Sound basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology and the disease process
• Completed AMSPAR medical terminology course or evidence of a good understanding of medical terminology
• Completion of ECDL or evidence of knowledge of IT, NHS PAS and Microsoft software products

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a high level of clinical coding knowledge and accuracy, with excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
• Manage competing priorities, work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
• Liaise with clinicians to clarify clinical information and support accurate coding
• Utilise IT systems and NHS PAS to support coding activities
