Job summary

BMC Recruitment Group is seeking a highly experienced Senior Client Manager (ACA/ACCA) for a UK-based practice. You will manage a client portfolio, lead a small team, and act as a senior contact for clients and partners.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in UK practice, strong technical knowledge in accounts and taxation, and a proven track record in client relationship management and team leadership.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
• At least 15 years' recent experience within a UK-based accountancy practice – essential.
• Strong management accounts experience.
• Extensive experience preparing accounts for sole traders, limited companies, partnerships and LLPs.
• Ability to prepare accounts to a consistently high standard.
• Strong knowledge of company and personal taxation.
• Experience reviewing the work of other accountants.
• Previous experience supervising and organising staff.
• Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified ACA or ACCA accountant with substantial experience gained within a UK accountancy practice. The successful candidate will play a senior role within the business, managing their own portfolio of clients, overseeing a team of accountants and acting as a key point of contact for clients at senior partner level.

The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years' recent experience within a UK-based accountancy practice, together with strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent organisational skills and the confidence to manage both clients and staff at a senior level.

The Role

As Senior Client Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Liaising with clients at senior partner level and building strong, long-term relationships
• Supervising and supporting a team of at least four accountants
• Managing your own portfolio of clients
• Preparing accounts from both incomplete records and computerised records
• Preparing company and personal tax returns
• Reviewing the work of other members of the team

About You

We are looking for an experienced practice accountant who is confident operating at a senior level and enjoys combining technical accounting work with client management and team leadership.

You will ideally have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent)
• A minimum of 15 years' recent experience within a UK-based qualified accountancy practice – essential
• Strong management accounts experience
• Extensive experience preparing accounts for a range of businesses, including sole traders, limited companies, partnerships and LLPs
• The ability to prepare accounts to a consistently high standard
• Strong knowledge of company and personal taxation
• Experience reviewing the work of other accountants
• Previous experience supervising and organising staff
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills
• The ability to use your own initiative and work effectively under pressure
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good working knowledge of accounting software, ideally including CCH, Sage and Xero
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
