Job summary

Curtis Recruitment Limited is seeking a qualified Accountant currently working in a UK accountancy practice to join the friendly team on the northern outskirts of Maidenhead. The role offers client‑facing duties and scope to expand your experience within a forward‑thinking, independent practice.

The ideal candidate will be ACA or ACCA, with solid knowledge of accounting standards, taxation, VAT and software.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA with UK practice experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, tax and VAT.
• Proficient in MS Office and accounting/practice software.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work independently or in a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Assist with management of a diverse client portfolio and respond to enquiries.
• Prepare statutory accounts for SME, limited company, sole trader and larger businesses.
• Prepare management accounts and VAT returns, including complex work.
• Support personal and corporate tax compliance and advisory work.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate with partners; visit client sites as needed.

Accountant

Our client is looking to recruit a qualified Accountant, who is currently working within a UK accountancy practice, to join the friendly team within this forward‑thinking, independent accountancy practice at its office on the northern outskirts of Maidenhead. The ideal candidate will be qualified ACA or ACCA and currently working within accountancy practice.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the management of a diverse portfolio of clients, being the first point of contact and responding to client enquiries in an accurate and timely manner
• Statutory accounts preparation for a range of SME, limited company, sole trader and larger businesses
• Management accounts and VAT, including some complex management accounts work and VAT returns
• Potentially involvement with all aspects of tax, including personal and corporate tax compliance and advisory work
• Nurturing junior team members and providing mentoring and guidance
• Managing both corporate clients and individuals to support partners
• Visiting client sites if necessary

Qualifications

• Be qualified ACA / ACCA – exceptional qualified by experience candidates may be considered
• Previous experience gained within a UK accountancy practice environment is essential
• Good working knowledge of accounting standards, corporation tax, income tax, VAT
• Competent with the Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with accountancy, taxation and practice management software
• Effective in juggling priorities and managing workload
• A team player and able to work on your own initiative
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with the team and clients
