Responsibilities

About the Company:

An established independent commercial insurance broker with a strong presence across the UK market is looking to strengthen its Corporate Division in Chelmsford. The business combines established insurer relationships and broad market access with a highly client-focused approach, providing tailored insurance and risk solutions to organisations with a range of commercial requirements.

Role Summary:

This is an opportunity for an experienced commercial insurance professional to take ownership of a portfolio of nominated corporate clients while working closely with colleagues across broking, claims and the wider business.

You will have responsibility for maintaining strong client and insurer relationships, supporting placement activity and ensuring clients receive appropriate advice and high standards of ongoing service. The position offers broad market exposure, continued professional development and scope to develop your career within an established commercial broking environment.

The role will initially be office based in Chelmsford, moving to approximately three days per week in the office following probation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Portfolio Management: Take ownership of nominated commercial accounts, giving you direct responsibility for building long-term client relationships and delivering a consistently high level of service.
• Client & Insurer Relationships: Develop effective relationships with clients and insurance partners, giving you broad exposure across the commercial insurance market.
• Broking & Placement: Support the placement of commercial risks, gathering appropriate information and helping secure suitable Insurance Act-compliant terms for clients.
• Advice & Market Analysis: Review client requirements, consider appropriate products and clearly document recommendations, allowing you to develop your technical and advisory experience.
• Policy Servicing: Manage renewals, mid-term adjustments and policy documentation while ensuring accuracy, appropriate breadth of cover and strong compliance standards.
• Account Development: Identify opportunities arising from existing clients, introductions and professional contacts, contributing to the continued growth of the Corporate Division.

Requirements:

• Strong experience within commercial insurance broking, ideally gained in a Client Adviser, Account Handler or comparable position
• Good knowledge of commercial insurance products, insurer markets and the commercial broking process
• Experience managing or supporting commercial insurance accounts and handling ongoing client requirements
• Strong client communication, organisation and relationship-management skills, alongside a sound understanding of compliance within a regulated environment
