Job summary

Capio Recruitment is seeking a Senior Claims Handler in Bristol for a growing specialist insurer. The role blends hands-on claims handling with oversight of TPAs and stakeholder management.

Hybrid working with 3 days in the office; salary £38,000 to £45,000 DOE; strong long-term progression opportunities.

You will handle complex commercial lines across Professional Indemnity, Accident & Health, and Construction All Risk, with exposure to underwriters, actuaries, and senior leadership.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ claims handling experience.
• Experience handling claims within one or more of: Professional Indemnity, Accident & Health, or Construction All Risk.
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload within a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working with TPAs, brokers, panel firms, or outsourced claims providers would be advantageous.
• Comfortable balancing technical claims work with operational and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of complex claims across Professional Indemnity, Accident & Health, and Construction All Risk.
• Oversee relationships with TPAs, panel firms, and service providers to develop stakeholder management experience.
• Handle referrals above delegated authority and contribute to high-value and complex matter resolutions.
• Collaborate with underwriters, actuaries, finance teams, and senior leadership.
• Support claims process improvement initiatives and contribute to building an in-house claims function.
• Produce clear reporting, reserve recommendations, and claims analysis to support business decisions.

Role Summary:

A growing insurer is looking to appoint a Senior Claims Handler to support a broad and varied claims portfolio across complex commercial lines. Working within a close-knit team, the role will combine hands-on claims handling with oversight of third-party administrators and key stakeholder management across the business. This position offers strong long-term progression potential, including the opportunity to help shape and eventually lead an in-house claims function as the business continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a varied portfolio of complex claims across areas including Professional Indemnity, Accident & Health, and Construction All Risk, giving you exposure to diverse and technically challenging work
• Oversee relationships with TPAs, panel firms, and service providers, allowing you to develop broader operational and stakeholder management experience
• Handle referrals above delegated authority and contribute to resolution strategies on higher-value and more complex matters
