Job summary

Howden Group is seeking a Principal Client Services Specialist – Claims to provide expert support across Group Income Protection claims, absences and early-intervention pathways. You will coordinate with clients, HR partners, insurers and health providers, guiding complex cases from notification to resolution.

The role emphasises discretion, integrity and strong client outcomes, with a focus on absence management, rehabilitation and proactive case progression.

Qualifications

• Strong technical knowledge of Group Income Protection claims and end-to-end process.
• Experience managing complex absence-related cases within insurance, consultancy or employer settings.
• Understanding of absence management, rehabilitation and occupational health pathways.
• Ability to interpret policy terms, insurer decisions and benefit calculations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and recommendations on Group Income Protection claims and absences.
• Coordinate with clients, HR, benefit teams, insurers and occupational health providers.
• Manage a portfolio of active, pending, appealed and rehabilitation-related cases.
• Liaise with insurers to submit/progress claims and resolve outstanding requirements.
• Chase insurers and other parties for overdue information or actions.
• Lead or participate in case-review meetings and client discussions.
