Job summary

QBE Insurance Group in London is seeking a Senior Claims Adjuster for Construction professional indemnity with end-to-end claim handling. You will manage a dedicated portfolio of complex PI claims, mentor junior Adjusters and interns, and collaborate with the Assistant Claims Manager to grow technical capabilities.

The role requires right to work in the UK, hybrid working in London, and a strong track record in Construction PI claims.

Qualifications

• Experience handling professional indemnity Construction claims in insurance, broker or law firm.
• Excellent organisational, investigation, analytical and negotiation skills.
• Strong communication and mentoring ability for juniors and interns.
• Understanding of regulatory and statutory standards and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, manage and resolve complex and high value Construction PI claims.
• Support Claims strategy implementation to hit business targets.
• Identify and investigate coverage issues ensuring liability aligns with contracts.
• Identify subrogation, contribution and other recovery opportunities.
• Manage disputed and material claims to resolve on an economic basis.
• Support relationships with internal and external stakeholders for Claims needs.
• Manage external legal providers and analyse coverage and defence reports.

Your new role

You’ll manage a dedicated portfolio of complex and high value Construction professional indemnity claims from start to finish. Additionally, you'll support the Assistant Claims Manager by mentoring junior Claims Adjusters and interns, helping them grow their technical skills.

Main responsibilities

• Investigate, manage and resolve complex and high value Construction PI claims efficiently and in the timely manner in accordance with policy terms and conditions in line with QBE Claims Philosophy.
• Support the implementation of the Claims strategy to enable delivery of overall business targets.
• Identify and investigate coverage issues so as to ensure that the company’s liability is in line with its contractual commitments
• Identify subrogation, contribution and other recovery issues and ensure that these are successfully pursued where appropriate
• Manage disputed Claims and other material Claims issues in order to resolve and settle claims on an economic basis
• Support the development of relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers to enable the Claims function to fully support their needs.
• Manage external legal providers, analyse coverage and defence reports and be prepared to challenge advice to enable crucial decisions on claims strategy.

About you

• Experience in handing professional indemnity Construction claims at an insurance company, adjuster, broker or law firm.
• Excellent organisational, investigation, analytical and negotiation skills
• Great communication skills including experience of presenting
• Enthusiasm for change and continued development
• The ability to mentor and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Professionalism and understanding of regulatory and statutory standards and requirements
• IT skills, including experience with MS Office and London Market claims systems
