Job summary

Arup in Whitehaven is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer on a 12-month contract to lead complex site development and infrastructure projects. You will oversee technical delivery, coach junior staff, and ensure safety and quality standards are upheld.

Based in Whitehaven with close collaboration across North offices, you will manage resources, engage with clients, and contribute to program delivery while supporting a collaborative, inclusive work culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in site development and civil infrastructure design and delivery within complex or regulated environments.
• Experience leading, coaching or supporting project teams, contributing to technical capability within a team or organisation and delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Experience working in client facing and construction environments, with ability to build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for delivery of complex site development and infrastructure projects.
• Support successful project delivery through planning, resource management and commercial awareness.
• Act as a line manager, coaching and mentoring junior members and supporting their development.
• Provide day-to-day support within the Whitehaven office and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture.
• Collaborate with North offices to support project delivery and capability growth.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor.
