Job summary

Calibre Search is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its Land Development team in Manchester or Glasgow. The role offers a hybrid pattern, typically 3 days per week office/site based, with responsibilities across drainage, utilities, highways and earthworks on major UK projects.

Applicants should be Chartered or Incorporated Engineers or working toward that status, with a proven track record in civil engineering design consultancy and multi-disciplinary delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards professional accreditation.
• Experience in civil engineering design consultancy.
• Experience coordinating design delivery within multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong knowledge of drainage, utilities, pavements and earthworks.
• Good knowledge of relevant design codes, standards and best practice.
• Experience working independently at Senior Engineer level.
• Strong communication and technical briefing skills.
• Proactive approach and team collaboration.
• Experience with Civil 3D, InfoDrainage or Causeway Flow advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage a team of civil engineers delivering design work on complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Lead civil design across drainage, utilities, highways, pavements, earthworks and construction logistics.
• Produce, check and review technical deliverables including reports, drawings and calculations.
• Provide technical input into external works and civil design packages.
• Work with project teams to deliver projects to programmes, budgets and milestones.
• Liaise with clients, project teams and other disciplines.
• Provide mentoring and support to junior engineers.
• Work independently on technically challenging problems with sound engineering judgement.
• Contribute to bids and proposals and ensure compliance with standards.
