Job Description
The Role and Job Purpose: My client is looking to expand and grow their Civil Engineering department in the Bedford office.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work on various residential and non-residential projects across the UK, ranging from small private developments to large master planning schemes.
- Communicate and liaise with clients, third-party consultants, council officers, and attend meetings as required.
- Coordinate with the wider engineering team.
- Assist with team management or manage the team directly.
- Manage own workload and deadlines, running individual projects.
- Utilize CAD software (Microstation preferred).
- Use drainage and 3D design software such as Flow and PDS to model drainage networks and produce road designs and ground models.
- Conduct due diligence and feasibility studies of potential sites.
- Prepare submission packs for planning (Outline, Detail, Full).
- Complete technical design submissions (S38/S278/S104) through to approval.
- Prepare groundworks packages for tender or construction.
- Design private civil engineering works on plots (desirable).
- Understand planning processes and related documents such as Flood Risk Assessments.
Associate Roles Requirements:
- Understand fees, invoicing, and project budgets.
- Manage multiple projects responsibly.
- Proven track record in managing teams and delivering projects.
Person Specification - Knowledge & Skills:
- Relevant degree (desirable).
- Proficient in UK Drainage/Flood Risk standards.
- Knowledge of Client & Local Authority standards.
- Proficiency with Microdrainage/Flow, Microstation/AutoCAD, Causeway PDS, and Microsoft Office suite.
Experience Profile:
- Experience in preparing technical submissions (S38/S278/S104).
- Experience in engineering drawings supporting planning submissions (desirable).
- Experience with private plot work design and earthworks (desirable).
- Strong communication skills, confident in client and third-party interactions.
Behavioural Competencies:
