Job summary

Strata Consulting is seeking a Contract Senior Civil Engineer specializing in drainage and highways for UK residential/commercial developments. The role focuses on drainage design, SuDS, flood risk, and highway S104/S38/S278 approvals, with hybrid working across Hampshire, Bristol, or Cardiff offices.

You will deliver buildable, compliant solutions, liaising with LLFAs and water authorities, and supporting projects from feasibility to technical approval.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in UK residential and/or commercial development.
• Proven track record securing S104, S38 and S278 approvals.
• Confident working independently.
• UK-based with right to work.

Contract Senior Civil Engineer – Drainage & Highways

Competitive Hourly Rate (Outside IR35 considered)

A busy civil engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Civil Engineer on a contract basis.

This role will focus primarily on residential and commercial development schemes, with an emphasis on drainage and adoptable highways design.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Surface & foul water drainage design
• SuDS strategies and detailed design
• Flood Risk Assessments
• S104 drainage agreements
• S38 & S278 highway design and approvals
• Liaison with LLFAs, Environment Agency and Water Authorities
• Supporting projects from feasibility through to technical approval

This is a hands‑on technical role suited to someone comfortable working autonomously and delivering compliant, buildable solutions.
