Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for their Bristol office to lead highways and drainage design on development projects across the UK. You will own civil engineering elements from appraisal through to detailed design, while mentoring junior engineers and supporting client relationships.

The role emphasises technical leadership, driving design quality, coordinating with planners and authorities, and contributing to fee proposals.

• Strong UK consultancy experience in development infrastructure.
• Proven background in highways and drainage design.

Responsibilities

• Mentor engineers and support team development.
• Contribute to fee proposals and scope management.

SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER

Location: Bristol

Salary: £45,000 to £56,000 plus benefits

Ready to step into a Senior Civil Engineer role where you can lead projects, influence technical direction and help grow a high-performing civil engineering team? This is a rare opportunity to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy delivering residential, commercial and industrial developments across the UK, with clear progression toward Principal and Associate level.

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will take ownership of the civil engineering elements of appraisal, planning and detailed design, acting as a key technical and client-facing lead while supporting and developing junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead highways and drainage design for development projects
• Manage pre-purchase feasibility and discharge of planning conditions
