Job summary

Turner Lovell Limited is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead the end-to-end civil design of electricity substations across the UK, from concept to completion. You will oversee drawings, calculations and specifications, attend site visits and client reviews, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with electrical and structural teams.

Profound experience in power transmission/substations, familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or Navisworks, and a solid lifecycle

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 3 years of industry experience in power transmission/distribution/substations or related infrastructure in energy/renewables.
• Strong understanding of project lifecycles from feasibility through handover.
• Familiar with AutoCAD and MS Office; experience in Civil 3D, Revit, or Navisworks is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end civil design of electricity substations (up to 400kV) across the UK.
• Attend site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and maintain alignment with project scope.
• Coordinate closely with internal design teams and external stakeholders to ensure projects meet technical, safety, and quality requirements within time and budget constraints.
• Manage design risks and develop practical, buildable engineering solutions throughout project development and delivery.
• Oversee design reviews and ensure integration with adjacent disciplines such as electrical and structural.
• Guide and support junior members within the team.
