Job summary

Turner Lovell Limited is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead the end-to-end design of electricity substations across the UK, from concept to delivery. You will oversee drawings, calculations, and specifications for civil structures and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree and at least 3 years' experience in power transmission, distribution, or related infrastructure, with proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; Civil 3D or Revit is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 3 years of industry experience in power transmission, substations, or related infrastructure.
• Familiar with AutoCAD; Civil 3D, Revit, or Navisworks is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of project lifecycles from feasibility through handover.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end civil design of electricity substations (up to 400kV) across the UK.
• Attend site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and maintain alignment with project scope.
• Coordinate closely with internal design teams and external stakeholders to ensure projects meet technical, safety, and quality requirements within time and budget constraints.
• Manage design risks and develop practical, buildable engineering solutions throughout project development and delivery.
• Oversee design reviews and ensure integration with adjacent disciplines such as electrical and structural.
• Guide and support junior members within the team.
