Job summary

Teesside Mind invites applications for a senior Finance Manager to lead the finance function with credibility and hands-on involvement. You will partner with the CEO and SLT, delivering timely accounts, robust controls, and insightful reporting to support the charity’s scale and ambition.

You will line manage the Finance Officer, oversee month-end, payroll checks, reconciliations and governance, while continuously improving routines and finances across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Recognised professional finance qualification or equivalent senior finance experience.
• Experience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts, cash flow information and financial reports for senior leaders.
• Strong practical experience in charity finance, including restricted/unrestricted funds, reserves and funder reporting.
• Experience maintaining effective financial controls, audit trails and governance.
• Experience supporting, supervising or working with finance staff to deliver timely finance processes.
• Experience with day-to-day finance operations: reconciliations, ledgers, payment processes, income recording, payroll checks and month-end.

Responsibilities

• Prepare timely, accurate management accounts, budgets and quarterly forecasts for the CEO, Board and Senior Leadership Team.
• Provide analysis and advice to help leaders make informed decisions aligned with strategy and values.
• Lead charity governance, including reserves monitoring, fund reporting, audit prep and annual report preparation.
• Develop costings for tenders, grants, contracts and new service developments with transparent assumptions.
• Support income generation, contract management and service sustainability through financial modelling and scenario planning.
• Oversee day-to-day processing, reconciliations, approvals and controls with clear audit trails.
• Maintain robust internal controls and manage payroll, cash flow, banking and investments.
• Ensure statutory reporting and obligations are met; support auditors and funders as needed.
• Lead on policies, procedures and systems improvements; supervise the Finance Officer and mentor staff.
