NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Senior Nurse Practitioner for the Surgical Assessment Unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley. The role involves urgent surgical reviews, leading a multidisciplinary team, and delivering high-quality care to surgical and urology patients.

Permanent, full-time position with Monday–Friday shifts. NHSGGC offers a supportive framework, including staff development and flexible working where service allows.

  • Deliver care to both surgical and urology patients.
  • Assess, prioritise, and manage acutely unwell surgical patients.
  • Ensure timely assessment, appropriate intervention, and ongoing patient management.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Demonstrate leadership within the clinical environment.

Job description

The role:

The Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) is a busy and dynamic department that provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients requiring urgent surgical review. Senior Nurse Practitioners work alongside Registered Nurses, Healthcare Support Workers, and medical staff to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality care to surgical and urology patients. The role involves managing acutely unwell patients and supporting timely assessment, intervention, and ongoing treatment.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Permanent, full-time

Shift Pattern - Monday - Friday

Base location - Royal Alexandra Hospital

Key responsibilities:
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients requiring urgent surgical review.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • Previous experience at Band 7 level is desirable.

  • Ability to work autonomously in a clinically complex environment.
