Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking an experienced Charge Nurse within Orthopaedics and Trauma to provide visible clinical leadership, delivering patient-centred care, and to develop a multidisciplinary team.

Based at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, the role involves 12-hour shifts, day and night, with some weekends and public holidays; you will deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse and help oversee ward operations, recruit, supervise and drive service improvements.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and significant post-registration nursing experience.
  • Significant experience within an acute orthopaedic environment.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and support others.
  • Strong clinical knowledge with advanced theoretical and practical understanding of nursing procedures.
  • Proven organisational, analytical and time management skills with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of policies and standards in acute healthcare settings.

Job description

As a Charge Nurse within Orthopaedics and Trauma, you will play a pivotal leadership role in delivering outstanding patient care while supporting and developing a skilled multidisciplinary team. Working closely with the Senior Charge Nurse, you will help drive high standards of clinical practice, service improvement and patient experience across the ward. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
  • Full Time, Permanent
  • You will be based at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
  • Working Pattern: 12-hour shift pattern which will be day and night shifts including some weekend and public holidays
