Job summary

Verda is building a European cloud platform powered by Ceph storage to run petabyte-scale workloads. As Senior Storage Engineer you will design, deploy, and operate Ceph clusters, set the technical direction for storage, mentor engineers, and own storage decisions across the team.

You will work on production-grade object, block, and file storage, ensure durability, observability, and automation, and collaborate with compute and networking to integrate storage with large GPU clusters.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise with Ceph: deployment, architecture, and operations.
• Experience operating Ceph at multi-petabyte scale in production.
• Proven technical leadership, owning storage end-to-end.
• Experience mentoring engineers.
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems and internals.
• Solid networking knowledge and debugging distributed systems.
• Experience running mission-critical production infrastructure, including on-call.
• Experience building automation for infrastructure operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, deployment, and operation of large-scale Ceph clusters for production workloads.
• Set the technical direction for the storage area and align with platform goals.
• Bring a production-grade managed Object Storage product to market with durability and performance targets.
• Scale and maintain storage systems from petabytes to exabytes.
• Operate Ceph across multiple interfaces and use cases (CephFS, RBD, RGW).
• Mentor and grow engineers through code/design reviews and on-call.
• Improve observability, automation, and tooling for storage infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex performance and reliability issues in distributed storage.
• Collaborate with compute and networking to integrate storage with GPU clusters.
• Drive capacity planning, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
• Participate in production operations and post-mortems to drive improvements.
