Job summary

The Climbing Hangar Sheffield is seeking a Deputy General Manager who will lead the site with a people-first approach and drive exceptional customer experiences.

You don't need a climbing background, but you should be a strong leader, able to develop teams, grow memberships and deliver solid commercial results while fostering a welcoming community for climbers of all ages and abilities.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams in customer-focused environments is required.
• Ability to balance commercial performance with great customer experience.
• Experience growing memberships, sales or customer engagement.
• Commitment to safeguarding and creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Champion a welcoming, inclusive, and customer-focused environment.
• Support staff in achieving membership sales, retention and customer loyalty.
• Create an exceptional customer experience for climbers of all ages and abilities.
• Build relationships within the local climbing and wider community.
• Oversee day-to-day operations across reception, retail, coaching and café.
• Ensure the highest standards of health, safety and safeguarding.
• Support events, competitions and community initiatives.
• Work closely with teams across Operations, Marketing, Finance and People.
