Job summary

Mott MacDonald is recruiting for a Principal Designer (Advisor) / CDM / Health & Safety Specialist to advise on CDM 2015 duties within the Energy Division. You will influence safe design across major energy projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and robust hazard management.

The role emphasizes collaboration with designers, project managers, and clients to shape risk-aware design through lifecycle stages from concept to handover.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or technical degree in engineering, energy, construction, or a related field.
• Recognised Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH Construction minimum; ideally NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ 4–7, Health & Safety Degree, or ICE H&S Registration)
• Chartered or working toward chartership (IET, CIOB, ICE, RICS, IOSH, CABE, RIBA, or equivalent)
• Proven experience advising on CDM Regulations within energy and infrastructure projects
• Strong technical writing and client-facing skills

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain project-level CDM and Building Safety Act (BSA) Compliance Strategies
• Support clients in identifying, obtaining, and managing pre-construction information
• Review designers’ hazard and risk information and support hazard register management
• Work closely with designers to identify, eliminate, or control foreseeable risks
• Collaborate with Project Managers to guide safe design through construction, operation, and maintenance stages
• Assist in preparing and completing the Health & Safety File
