Join to apply for the Senior Catering Assistant role at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 x 20-hour permanent contracts for a Senior Catering Assistant to join our friendly, busy, and dynamic Catering Team based at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.

The post holder will work as part of the food service team in the Catering Department and at ward level at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, providing and maintaining an efficient catering service for both patient and commercial services. Responsibilities include serving patient meals at ward level, assisting with food preparation and cleaning in the main kitchen, and working in the central dish wash and pot area.

This role may also involve working at our Caffe Bistro located in the women's and children's area of the hospital, and at Apley Restaurant on the first floor.

Responsibilities include:

1. General cleaning duties of all areas following departmental schedules, using appropriate cleaning materials, chemicals, equipment, and PPE.
2. Ensuring compliance with hygiene, health, and safety practices according to SOPs and current legislation.
3. Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene in line with the Trust Food Safety Policy and legal requirements.
4. Proper storage and stock rotation within all patient and commercial services, adhering to HACCP principles.
5. Completing HACCP food safety documentation, including recording food temperatures and taking corrective actions when necessary.

Our catering department caters not only to patients but also operates two retail outlets: the Apley Restaurant and the Caffe Bistro, serving a variety of hot and cold beverages and meals, along with numerous vending machines offering drinks and snacks.

Our patient catering system is cook/chill, with diverse menu options, supplied by an external provider.
