Job summary

National Grid is seeking an Associate Category Buyer to join our Procurement team. In a hybrid role, you’ll support strategic sourcing activities across a diverse portfolio, working with Category Managers and stakeholders to deliver value and continuous improvement.

Based in the UK, the role involves market research, tendering, and contract award processes, with office visits in Warwick or Castle Donington up to twice a week and opportunities to work from home.

Qualifications

• Experience of strategic sourcing and category management.
• Understanding of procurement processes and commercial principles.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to analyse information and make informed recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of multiple strategic sourcing events across your portfolio.
• Work with stakeholders to understand requirements, challenge demand and identify best solutions.
• Conduct market and supplier research to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Deliver sourcing and tender activities from market engagement through to contract award.
• Manage a range of sourcing events independently, ensuring value for money and compliance with procurement best practice.
• Collaborate with Contract Managers and Procurement Programme Managers to maximise contract value and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Support forward planning and demand forecasting activities to ensure future business requirements are effectively managed.
• Assist in the development and implementation of regional contractual agreements that meet business needs.
