Job Description

We are seeking a skilled professional to lead all elements of fixed asset accounting. You will be recognized as a key subject matter expert, providing guidance and challenge as part of our ongoing transformation initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Executing appropriate financial controls to ensure timely, accurate recording and reporting of information in line with the Group's accounting policies.
2. Offering strategic and operational guidance to manage emerging opportunities and challenges.
3. Supporting the Head of Capital and Asset Reporting in overseeing the financial implications of the Group's CAPEX and sales programs.
4. Maintaining accurate data, managing large complex data sets on Excel and in-house systems.
5. Developing a program for collecting, updating, maintaining, and managing the Group's Fixed Asset Register.
6. Ensuring that capital grant-funded assets adhere to grant terms, conditions, and requirements.
7. Developing and implementing standards and processes to identify and collect asset attribute data throughout the asset lifecycle.
8. Managing and mentoring the assistant capital accountant, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Essential Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

• Hold a CCAB-recognized accounting qualification with supporting CPD.
• Extensive experience working in a complex capital accounting environment, dealing with inventory, fixed assets, and investments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging diverse audiences; ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strategic thinking skills; capable of analyzing complex data to develop solutions and make data-driven decisions.
• Experience influencing operational activities at both tactical and strategic levels across all areas of the business.
• Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of D365 and Power BI is preferred.
• Ability to provide expert technical accounting advice with good knowledge of FRS and exposure to SORP and related government legislation.
• Uphold ethical principles including integrity, objectivity, professional competence, confidentiality, and professional behavior.
