Job description

We are currently seeking a Senior CAD Designer to join a growing team in Barrow. In this role, you will play a key part in the design and production of 3D models for the primary structure of the whole boat, producing 2D drawing outputs to support manufacturing and production teams.

The Team:

You’ll work within a specialised design team, supported by Principal Designers, Assistant Project Leaders, and Project Leaders on Submarines. The team focuses on areas such as Seating, Penetrations, Eye plates, Primary Structure, and Hull Mechanics.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design and produce 3D models for the entire boat's primary structure.
2. Create 2D drawings to support the manufacturing and production teams in product build and delivery.
3. Collaborate with the team, sharing best practices to improve product and design quality.

Skills and Experience:

1. Proven experience in a design role, ideally from high-hazard industry such as Civil, Structures, Marine, or Oil & Gas.
2. Proficiency in CAD software, particularly FORAN, NX, and/or Solidworks.
3. Knowledge of techniques, processes, and tools for large-scale, detailed designs of platforms, assemblies, systems, and equipment installations.
