Job summary

Microlise is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (C++) to join a large engineering team in the Midlands. You will handle a mix of development, design and bug-fix work while mentoring junior engineers.

The role includes attending stand-ups, sprint events and product releases, with a focus on delivering high-quality software. You will work on modern technologies in a collaborative environment and participate in code reviews, design discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or closely related discipline.
• Strong CS fundamentals and practical engineering skills.
• Experience delivering high quality, maintainable software in a commercial environment.
• Hands-on senior software engineering with modern C++ (C++11+).
• Experience with C#/.NET and cross-language integration is a plus.
• Experience in an SDLC with code reviews, design discussions and collaboration.
• Proficiency in SQL and database thinking; MS SQL Server experience.
• Experience mentoring engineers and fostering knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a variety of software projects within an established team.
• Participate in stand-ups, reviews, demos, and product release cycles.
• Fix bugs, design solutions, and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate across sprint planning, reviews and refinement sessions.
• Write and maintain unit tests across UI, backend and database layers.
• Engage in code reviews and tackle technical debt while improving performance.
