As a Senior Software Engineer C++, you will contribute to a varied portfolio of projects and business-critical products. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working with modern technologies and a collaborative engineering team. Your work will include software design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and supporting product releases. You will also help guide junior engineers and contribute to a positive, continually improving team environment.
Our engineering teams work through regular planning, stand-ups, refinement sessions, retrospectives, sprint reviews, and demonstrations. You will participate in public code reviews, engineering dojos, pair programming, and technical discussions, as well as resolve defects, reduce technical debt, monitor system performance, and improve code quality. Monthly activities may include stakeholder demonstrations, product reviews, technical reporting, release-cycle support, mobile development activities, and engineering input across ongoing projects.
You will have a degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience, and a strong grasp of computer science fundamentals. We are looking for demonstrable experience delivering maintainable, high-quality software as a Senior Software Engineer in a commercial environment, together with significant hands‑on experience in modern C++, including C++11 or later, memory management, templates, concurrency, and the standard library.
You should understand object-oriented programming and be able to apply SOLID principles and established design patterns to create robust, extensible software. Experience with C# and .NET is advantageous, particularly for cross-language integration or tooling. You will also bring proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, including writing efficient queries and analysing execution plans; experience implementing unit tests across application layers; and familiarity with optimisation, profiling, and high‑throughput or low‑latency systems.
We value engineers who communicate effectively, take initiative, and are motivated to keep learning. You will be comfortable working within an established software development lifecycle, contributing to design discussions and code reviews, and collaborating to deliver reliable solutions. Experience mentoring and coaching engineers, sharing technical guidance, supporting development goals, and encouraging continuous improvement is important.
Design, develop, test, review, and maintain C++ software, applying sound engineering principles and agreed quality standards. Participate in daily stand-ups, unit testing, pull requests, code reviews, design work, and defect resolution. Identify performance issues, help reduce technical debt, and contribute to system reliability. Collaborate with colleagues across engineering and product activities, support sprint planning and delivery, and contribute to releases, reports, stakeholder demonstrations, and product reviews. Share knowledge, mentor junior team members, and help strengthen team practices through collaborative problem solving.
