Job summary

NMS Recruit Ltd t/a Russell Taylor Group in Sheffield is seeking a Principal C&I Engineer to lead ownership of complex control systems projects within the nuclear sector on a hybrid basis.

You will mentor a team while staying hands-on with technical delivery, review architectures, manage budgets and drive site commissioning, all while maintaining strong client relationships and delivering quality solutions.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years' experience in systems engineering, ideally within a highly regulated industry such as nuclear.
• Technical expertise in SCADA, PLC and HMI systems.
• A good understanding of project management principles, including cost control and client management.
• Experience applying systems engineering principles, methodologies and integration processes.
• A strong understanding of quality management systems, processes and procedures.
• Experience with software development and hardware integration, including working on client sites.
• Strong verbal, written and presentation skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and support the bidding process.
• Proven leadership and management ability.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and approving system architectures, designs and detailed specifications to meet client requirements
• Taking ownership of technical solutions from concept through to delivery, ensuring quality, performance and compliance throughout
• Leading system testing and validation, and overseeing technical documentation including requirements, design specs, test plans and operator manuals
• Leading technical discussions with project teams, resolving issues, and planning and leading site commissioning
• Managing project resource, budget and timesheet authorisation, including technical sign-off during the bidding process
• Building and maintaining client relationships, leading project meetings and acting as the technical point of contact
• Providing coaching, mentorship and technical guidance to the team, and supporting continuous learning and development
• Working closely with software, hardware, workshop and project management teams to ensure successful delivery
