Energy Jobline CVL in Sheffield is seeking a Principal C&I Engineer to lead complex control systems projects in the nuclear sector, balancing hands-on delivery with team mentoring.

You will own architectures from concept through to delivery, drive client relationships, and ensure quality, safety and regulatory compliance across the program. The role is hybrid with flexible start times and strong growth opportunities.

Qualificações

• 7+ years experience in systems engineering or related field.
• Experience with regulated industries such as nuclear is preferred.
• Knowledge of SCADA/PLC/HMI environments.
• Understanding of project management principles including cost control.
• Familiarity with quality management systems and processes.
• Experience with software/hardware integration and client sites.
• Strong leadership, communication and presentation skills.

Responsabilidades

• Reviewing and approving system architectures, designs and specifications.
• Owning technical solutions from concept through delivery, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Leading system testing, validation and documentation (requirements, design specs, test plans).
• Leading technical discussions with project teams and planning site commissioning.
• Managing project resources, budget and timesheet sign-off during bidding.
• Building and maintaining client relationships and acting as technical contact.
• Coaching and mentoring team members and supporting learning and development.
• Collaborating with software, hardware, workshop and project management teams for delivery.

What's in it for you?

• £70,000 to £80,000 basic salary DOE
• 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, plus buy/sell up to 5 days leave per year
• Hybrid working - 2 days from home per week
• Flexible start and finish times - start between 7am and 10am, finish between 3pm and 6pm, plus Flexi Fridays

What will you be doing?

• Reviewing and approving system architectures, designs and detailed specifications to meet client requirements
• Taking ownership of technical solutions from concept through to delivery, ensuring quality, performance and compliance throughout
• Leading system testing and validation, and overseeing technical documentation including requirements, design specs, test plans and operator manuals
• Leading technical discussions with project teams, resolving issues, and planning and leading site commissioning
• Managing project resource, budget and timesheet authorisation, including technical sign-off during the bidding process
• Building and maintaining client relationships, leading project meetings and acting as the technical point of contact
• Providing coaching, mentorship and technical guidance to the team, and supporting continuous learning and development
• Working closely with software, hardware, workshop and project management teams to ensure successful delivery

Where you'll be doing it

Our client has over 50 years' experience in digital transformation and system integration, delivering solutions across the energy, nuclear and industrial manufacturing sectors..

What you'll need

• At least 7 years' experience in systems engineering, ideally within a highly regulated industry such as nuclear
• Technical expertise in relevant software packages, such as SCADA, PLC and HMI systems
• A good understanding of project management principles, including cost control and client management
• Experience applying systems engineering principles, methodologies and integration processes
• A strong understanding of quality management systems, processes and procedures
• Experience with software development and hardware integration, including working on client sites
• Strong verbal, written and presentation skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and support the bidding process
• Proven leadership and management ability
