ALTEN in London is seeking a Senior Defence Software Engineer to deliver mission-critical C++ solutions for regulated environments.

You will apply DO-178, perform testing, and collaborate across disciplines to integrate software into complex systems, while contributing to safety and reliability.

The role requires 8+ years of C++ experience, SC clearance eligibility, and a hybrid on-site schedule in London.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of proven C++ experience in modern standards
• Knowledge of DO-178 processes and safety-critical development
• Experience with black-box testing, verification, and requirements traceability
• Familiarity with configuration management and build tools (Git, Jenkins, CMake)
• Understanding of coding standards (MISRA, CERT C++)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain C++ software for mission-critical defence systems
• Apply DO-178 principles and ensure safety compliance
• Perform black-box testing and verification activities
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate software into complex systems
• Support configuration management and CI/CD processes (Git, Jenkins, CMake) and produce technical documentation
