Job summary

ALTEN is recruiting for a systems engineer to join a defence-focused engineering team in Stevenage or Bristol. You will support the full lifecycle from requirements capture to design verification on mission and safety-critical systems, collaborating with software, electronics and test teams.

Candidates should have 3-10 years of experience in systems engineering, a degree in engineering, and be willing to obtain SC clearance.

Qualifications

• Experience applying systems engineering across complex products or platforms.
• Experience capturing, managing, and decomposing system requirements through lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of system integration, verification, and validation activities.
• Experience producing technical documentation and supporting engineering reviews.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Support systems engineering activities across the full development lifecycle.
• Capture, manage, and decompose system requirements.
• Contribute to system design, integration, and verification activities.
• Support technical reviews, risk assessments, and design decisions.
• Work closely with software, electronics, and test teams.
• Produce and maintain systems engineering documentation.
