ALTEN is a global engineering and technology consultancy delivering embedded software solutions across defence and regulated industries. We seek an Embedded Software Engineer to join on-site in Scotland, designing, developing, and integrating high-integrity software for complex systems.

With 5+ years of hands-on experience, you will apply model-based design, work with systems and hardware teams, and ensure compliance with safety and coding standards such as DO-178C and MISRA C/C++.

• Design, develop and maintain embedded C++ software for safety-critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded C++ software for complex, safety-critical systems.
• Apply structured and model-based design approaches to support scalable software architectures.
• Collaborate with systems and hardware engineers to integrate software on target platforms.
• Ensure compliance with safety and coding standards such as DO-178C and MISRA C/C++.
• Support system integration, verification, and validation activities in lab environments.
• Contribute to delivery within an Agile development framework.
