Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking a Senior Buyer to lead strategic and operational procurement for live civils and infrastructure projects in the United Kingdom. The role requires close collaboration with project teams to source and expedite materials in line with programme and budget requirements.

You will build supplier relationships, negotiate terms and drive value while ensuring compliance with frameworks and internal processes.

Qualifications

• Experience in procurement within construction or civil engineering sectors.
• Understanding of construction regulations, standards and supply chain requirements.
• Strong negotiation skills to deliver savings and value.
• Commercial awareness and budget monitoring experience.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication across teams.
• Analytical, detail-oriented and proactive problem-solving.
• Experience with materials and services such as pipework, valves, aggregates, precast, concrete, muckaway, waste management or soil testing.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Represent Procurement at tender, pre-start and stakeholder meetings.
• Source and expedite materials and services aligned with programme and budget.
• Ensure purchasing activity complies with frameworks, strategies and processes.
• Build and manage supplier and category relationships; monitor performance and compliance.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and contracts to deliver value without compromising quality or safety.
• Support sustainability and social value objectives through supply chain improvements.
• Monitor market trends and lead activity for allocated commodities or categories.
• Maintain auditable procurement trail and up-to-date records.
