Job summary

English Provender Company (EPC) is seeking a Permanent Full-time Procurement professional to manage cost-effective purchases of raw materials and packaging, ensuring quality standards are met at Thatcham site.

The role focuses on category strategies, supplier negotiations, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver value and secure supply for UK operations.

Responsibilities

• Be market experts in allocated categories.
• Represent purchasing team at allocated business critical meetings.
• Develop Procurement category strategies for allocated areas of spend.
• Implement procurement strategies to maintain security of supply and support business needs.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers taking into consideration total cost and service.
• Forecast price & market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer/ supplier power.
• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce costs & improve effectiveness.
• Manage vendor performance through vendor rating and act on poor performance.
• Through joint improvement plans and cross functional quarterly reviews ensure we get the best from our key suppliers.
• Promote & bring supplier innovation to wider business to ensure we have competitive edge.

Main purpose

To ensure that the company purchases its raw materials and packaging cost-effectively and to the appropriate quality standards

• Follow escalation process to highlight any risk to planned production or customer service going forward.
• Work jointly on working capital reduction projects such as extending terms, reducing stock held on site both slow moving and redundant.
• Deliver agreed PIPS in budget & identify areas to deliver value from allocated categories.
