Job summary

Bellway Homes in Leicester (East Midlands Division) seeks a Senior Buyer for the Commercial department to manage daily procurement costs and budgets. You will ensure compliance with purchasing arrangements and monitor rebates and supplier performance across multiple projects.

The role involves issuing tenders, analysing quotes, taking-off materials from drawings, and preparing material schedules and orders. Travel to development sites and DBS checks are part of the role.

Responsibilities

There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK's largest house builders. Our East Midlands Division, located in Leicester is looking to recruit a Senior Buyer to join the Division's Commercial department.

The Role

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the role of Senior Buyer supports with the day to day management of procurement costs for the division, compliance with group purchasing arrangements, collection of rebates and the setting and monitoring of materials budgets to deliver the business unit output in the most timely, efficient and cost effective manner possible.

Principal Accountabilities Of The Role Include

• Ensuring competitive procurement of materials and plant as dictated by individual project specifications.
• Administering and assist with monitoring of Material Rebate claims.
• Monitoring supplier performance.
• Preparing Contract Material Budget.
• Monitoring and reporting on Material Budget as contract progresses.
• Issuing tender enquiries and analysing quotations.
• Preparing material take-off from contract drawings.
• Preparing material schedules on Excel for supplier and site use.
• Production of computer generated Purchase Orders.
• Issuing orders to enable waste management systems to be implemented on sites.
• Collating and submitting statistical analysis as required.

Experience

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

• Previously held Buying role with knowledge of take offs, schedules and budgets required.

Qualifications And Training

• Current CSCS card or equivalent
• GCSE English and Mathematics grade A-C/4+ or equivalent

Skills And Aptitude

• Strong communication and listening skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work on own as well as part of a team
• IT literate, proficient in MS Word and Excel with the ability to adapt to new systems
• Ability to work to deadlines under pressure
• Able to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels

The Role and Working Conditions

• Willing to be flexible in respect to day to day duties and hours worked
• Office based role, with travel within the Divisional area
• Ability to travel to development sites as and when required
