Senior Business Development Manager - Planning, Development & Origination

Leap29 represents a sustainable infrastructure company focused on renewable energy assets. Their mission is to promote the transition to a sustainable world by investing in and managing infrastructure, delivering long-term value to investors and stakeholders.

Their portfolio includes 40 renewable energy assets such as natural gas-fired power, electric transmission lines, and other sustainable assets.

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive Business Development Manager to lead the planning and development of energy infrastructure projects across the UK, focusing on solar PV, BESS, Wind, and Natural Gas opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze the UK energy market to identify new project opportunities.
• Prepare and present investment proposals for internal review.
• Lead planning activities, including public consultations, applications, appeals, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage grid connection processes aligned with CP2030 objectives.
• Monitor UK and devolved government policies, NSIPs, and local frameworks.
• Collaborate with teams and partners on due diligence for acquisition opportunities.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and methodologies.
• Ensure project documentation and compliance with technical and contractual standards.
• Allocate resources and oversee project milestones.
• Support procurement activities for project needs.
• Develop stakeholder and communication plans throughout project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 5–7+ years in energy or infrastructure, with renewable project development experience in the UK.
• Proven project management skills across all development stages.
• Experience negotiating agreements such as DSAs, JV, EPC contracts.
• Knowledge of UK power sector regulations, planning, and permitting.
• Understanding of technical design and cost estimation for solar PV, wind, and BESS.
• Financial analysis skills for project profitability.
• Established network within the UK energy sector.
