Senior Business Development Manager - Planning, Development & Origination

Leap29 is representing a sustainable infrastructure company primarily focused on renewable energy assets. Their mission is to drive the transition towards a more sustainable world by investing in and managing sustainable infrastructure, while delivering long-term value to investors and stakeholders.

The current portfolio includes 40 renewable energy assets, including natural gas-fired power, electric transmission lines, and other sustainable assets.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager to identify, lead, and support the planning and development of energy infrastructure projects across the UK, focusing on solar PV, BESS, wind, and natural gas opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze the UK energy market to identify new project opportunities.
  • Prepare and present investment proposals for internal evaluation and approval.
  • Lead or support planning activities, including public consultations, applications, appeals, and compliance with UK regulations.
  • Drive grid connection processes aligned with CP2030 objectives.
  • Monitor UK and devolved government policies, NSIPs, and local development frameworks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners for due diligence on acquisition opportunities at all development stages.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and methodologies to meet standards and objectives.
  • Ensure project documentation compliance with technical and contractual requirements.
  • Allocate and manage project resources—human, technical, and financial—to meet milestones.
  • Support procurement processes aligned with project needs.
  • Implement stakeholder and communication plans throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; Master’s or specialization in energy management, regulation, or business management preferred.
  • 5–7+ years of experience in the energy or infrastructure sector, with a focus on renewable project development in the UK.
  • Proven project management experience across all development stages.
  • Experience negotiating agreements such as DSAs, JV/investor agreements, and EPC contracts.
  • Understanding of UK power sector regulations, planning, and permitting processes.
  • Knowledge of technical design and cost estimation for solar PV, wind, and BESS.
  • Strong financial skills with experience in project profitability analysis.
  • Established network within the UK energy sector.
