Senior Business Analyst (Clinical Trials)

Salary: £49,000 - £58,000 (+ Benefits)

Reports to: Lead Business Analyst

Department: Chief Operating Office

Contract: 2 year fixed-term contract

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

Location: Stratford, London. Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

Cancer Research UK's Technology team plays a crucial role in driving modern change initiatives and programs across the organisation. This role will join our Scientific Research & Innovation product portfolio responsible for delivering the best digital products and solutions for our lifesaving researchers and clinicians.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will accurately analyse, capture, and validate the requirements for large/complex technology and change projects within our Centre for Drug Development (CDD). CDD is the world's only charity-funded drug development facility that delivers leading cancer therapies, clinical trials, and biomarker technologies that rival pharmaceutical companies while reflecting our unique strategy as a charity. At the heart of our mission, CDD translates today's science into tomorrow's medicine by delivering leading cancer therapies to people with cancer.

In this role, you will partner with CDD's specialists to identify and maintain a range of SaaS and off-the-shelf technology products (e.g. Veeva, Medidata & Stitch) to support around 20 drug development projects (predominantly clinical trials). This will involve managing technical documentation, ensuring our products comply with clinical research legislation and standards (e.g., Good Clinical Practice and Computer Systems Validation), and evaluating and implementing solutions that meet the technology needs of our clinical trial operations and its strategic direction.

What will I be doing?

• Defining Business Analysis needs within Cancer Research UK's Centre of Drug Development (CDD)'s technology solutions.
• Staying informed on market trends and regulatory requirements to identify new opportunities and ensure compliance.
• Partnering closely with stakeholders to align with Cancer Research UK's strategy, ensuring CDD's technology solutions meet organisational needs and objectives.
• Forging strong stakeholder relationships at all levels to identify and assess solutions and process improvements that meet business outcomes and provide the best cost/benefit balance.
• Collating, understanding, and documenting business, functional and non-functional requirements.
• Identifying the strengths and weaknesses of existing processes, suggesting areas of improvement, and challenging as needed.
• Ensuring that requirements for clinical trial systems are documented appropriately for the Product team.
• Collaborating with CDD to ensure correlation between requirements, Information Architecture, and clinical research legislation and standards.
• Providing analysis expertise and leadership throughout CDD's digital products' lifecycles.
• Being a key member of the Product team, contributing to the successful delivery of large/complex projects, developing practical ideas and solutions to deliver value to the business.
• Sharing expertise and best practices, contributing to analysis toolkits, and supporting the business analyst community and business process owners.
• Maintaining an understanding of the capabilities, processes, and services that make up the CDD and the clinical research technology landscape.
• Keeping aware of emerging technologies and software to ensure compatible solutions are designed and existing capabilities are re-used where suitable.
• Inputting into test scenarios, scripts, design, and execution by collaborating with department colleagues to ensure changes are appropriately tested and accepted.
• Partnering closely with Project Managers and Business Owners to track progress against milestones, develop plans, prioritise work, and create sufficient documentation for projects/work streams.
• Identifying and mitigating risks associated with clinical trial systems and processes.

What skills will I need?

• Experienced Business Analyst with a track record of delivering change and transformation in clinical research or pharmaceutical environments.
• Knowledge of clinical research legislation and standards (e.g., EMEA/ EU Good Clinical Practice, Computer Systems Validation) and their technological implications.
• Experience leveraging SaaS and off-the-shelf technology to address real-world needs with a focus on adoption and value.
• Managed multiple workstreams/products and priorities with a background in dealing with complexity and identifying potential dependencies and risks.
• Strong understanding and experience in business analysis skills, techniques, and practices (including designing and facilitating workshops).
• Strong communication and stakeholder management with a proven ability to understand stakeholder needs and influence decision-making at all levels within various contexts.
• Advanced experience in process and data modelling, and process improvement.
• Evidence of problem-solving with an ability to simplify complex problems into components and evaluate systematically to provide creative solutions.
• Commercially minded with an understanding of what Cancer Research UK is trying to achieve and the role of Delivery teams in delivering these ambitions.
