Job summary

Trial Balance, a well-established accountancy practice in Bournemouth, is seeking an experienced Bureau Payroll Manager to own a varied payroll function and lead a small team delivering a high-quality service for a portfolio of clients.

You will manage end-to-end payroll, ensure RTI submissions, auto-enrolment duties, and act as the main client contact while liaising with HMRC to stay compliant and up to date with payroll changes.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a payroll bureau or accountancy practice environment.
• Ability to manage multiple client payrolls independently.
• Confident dealing directly with clients.
• Highly organised and able to work to strict deadlines.
• Experience overseeing or supporting other payroll staff is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll process for a portfolio of clients.
• Ensure accurate and timely submission of RTI and other statutory returns.
• Manage auto-enrolment pension requirements and related processes.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients and handle payroll queries.
• Liaise with HMRC and other bodies as required.
• Keep up to date with payroll legislation and ensure client compliance.
• Review payroll work and support junior team members.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and deliver an efficient bureau service.
