Job summary

Gateley Smithers Purslow is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to support the Line Manager on projects within authority and to guide the team. You will inspect, appraise and report on design, construction, maintenance and refurbishment works across buildings and sites.

You will lead large value projects, ensure compliance with CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall and Building Regulations, and help promote the firm’s services. Training and supervision of graduates and surveyors will be part of the role.

Qualifications

• BSc Hons in Building Surveying.
• Experience in consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices.
• Experience in Defect Diagnosis and report writing.
• Insurance repair project experience preferred.
• Experience in working to deadlines and within budgets on large scale projects.
• Experience and understanding of CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall and Building Regulation legislation.
• Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills; methodical problem solving.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible and variable attitude to work type.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and provide advice on design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of buildings and sites.
• Inspections to involve acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations.
• Prepare reports, schedules of work and works specifications.
• Undertake large value projects independently with knowledge of professional consultancy services.
• Design and oversee works using recognised building contracts and current technical standards.
• Understand and apply health and safety, party wall, building regulations and planning requirements.
• Promote the company’s services to secure projects and build the Smithers Purslow brand.
• Provide supervision and support to Graduates and Building Surveyors to share knowledge.
• Comply with administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
