Job summary

Altura Search is representing a respected multidisciplinary property consultancy recruiting a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor for their Bristol office. The role offers involvement across refurbishment, maintenance, and new-build projects, with added CDM Principal Designer duties.

You will lead surveys, prepare specifications and contracts, advise on dilapidations and boundary matters, and ensure compliance with building regulations.

Qualifications

• MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor; consultancy and project surveying experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction, defects, and contract administration.
• Excellent client-facing communication and report-writing skills.
• Familiarity with CDM 2015; willingness to support Principal Designer duties.
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent is desirable.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Experience in a consultancy environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead refurbishment, maintenance and new-build projects end-to-end.
• Carry out surveys, defect diagnosis and condition assessments.
• Prepare specs, tenders and administer contracts (JCT and others).
• Advise on dilapidations, party walls, boundary disputes, and insurance.
• Ensure compliance with building regs and technical standards.
• Oversee site works and coordinate with clients and contractors.
• Produce high-quality reports and client advice.

Job description

This is an opportunity to work for a respected multidisciplinary property consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality Building Surveying services across the residential, commercial, and education sectors.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor to join their Bristol office. This is a key role offering involvement in a wide variety of projects, with some additional responsibility for CDM Principal Designer duties.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead and manage refurbishment, maintenance, and new-build projects from inception to completion
• Undertake building surveys, defect diagnosis, and condition assessments
• Prepare specifications, tender documents, and administer contracts under JCT and other standard forms
• Provide professional advice on dilapidations, party wall matters, boundary disputes, and insurance claims
• Ensure compliance with current building regulations and technical standards
• Oversee site works and liaise closely with clients, contractors, and stakeholders
• Deliver high-quality written reports and client advice

Candidate Requirements

• MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor
• Proven experience across both professional and project-based building surveying
• Strong technical knowledge of construction, defects, and contract administration
• Clear and confident communicator with excellent client-facing skills
• Familiarity with CDM 2015 and willingness to support Principal Designer duties
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent is desirable but not essential
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
• Experience within a consultancy environment is preferred
• Up to £70,000
