Qualifications

• Strong Building Surveying expertise across commercial and residential property
• Experience in condition surveys and building inspections to diagnose defects and advise remedial actions
• Experience in feasibility studies including option appraisals, cost implications and risk assessment
• Experience in contract management and administration, including documentation and contractor performance monitoring
• Knowledge of dilapidations including preparation of schedules, settlements and landlord/tenant advisory work
• Qualified or working towards MRICS chartered status is strongly preferred
• Excellent analytical, report-writing and communication skills with attention to detail

Role Description

The Senior Building Surveyor will provide professional building surveying services on a range of commercial and residential projects, primarily in London, with opportunities to support UK-wide and international work. Day-to-day responsibilities include undertaking condition surveys, building inspections and dilapidation assessments; preparing technical reports, schedules and specifications; and advising clients on building defects, maintenance strategies and remediation options. The role involves leading feasibility studies, contributing to project planning, and supporting contract management throughout the construction and refurbishment lifecycle. The Senior Building Surveyor will collaborate closely with internal colleagues and external stakeholders, attend site meetings, and ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, standards and best practice. This is a full-time, on-site role based in London.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Building Surveying expertise, including experience across commercial and residential property.
• Candidates should possess skills in Condition Surveys and building inspections, with the ability to diagnose defects and recommend remedial actions.
• Candidates should possess experience in Feasibility Studies, including option appraisals, cost implications and risk assessment for proposed works.
• Candidates should possess capabilities in Contract Management and administration, including preparing documentation and monitoring contractor performance.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of Dilapidations, including preparation of schedules, negotiation of settlements and advisory work for landlords and tenants.
• Relevant professional qualification such as RICS-accredited degree and chartered status (MRICS or working towards) is strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical, report-writing and communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, and building effective client relationships.
• Sound understanding of building regulations, health and safety requirements and construction technology, particularly within the UK context.
