Praxis Real Estate is expanding—and this is your opportunity to play a pivotal role at the heart of one of Scotland’s most iconic shopping destinations.

Following our recent acquisition of the St. Enoch Centre, we are hiring a Senior Building Surveyor to be based on-site in Glasgow. This is a landmark hire—the first Building Surveyor in our Scottish operations—and a rare opportunity to shape and influence the future of a major city centre asset from the ground up.

You’ll be joining an established national team of Surveyors and Project Managers, with close collaboration across our London and Manchester offices, while enjoying the autonomy and visibility that comes with being the senior surveying lead on-site.

About the Role:

This role will be multifaceted, primarily managing projects within the shopping centre, ranging from small maintenance works to major refurbishment and development projects. You will also provide building and construction advice to the internal Centre Management Team, Investment Management, and Asset Management teams on planning, refurbishment, development, and project delivery across the retail and business portfolio.

Using your strong knowledge base, you will be responsible for ensuring successful project completion in a cost-effective and value-adding manner, aligned with the overall business plan.

Benefits:
  • Highly competitive Salary and Bonus Scheme DOE
  • 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays
  • PMI and Healthcare Cash Plan
  • 5% Company Pension Contribution
  • 3x Life Assurance

Working Pattern: On-Site at St Enoch with occasional travel

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver sustainable refurbishments across the portfolio
  • Conduct pre-acquisition due diligence by reviewing building and M&E surveys
  • Advise on refurbishment costs and manage projects within budget and timelines
  • Appoint consultants, inspect properties, and negotiate dilapidations claims
  • Provide advice on building-related matters, including tenant alterations and repairs
  • Coordinate with Facilities Managers on maintenance contracts
  • Perform financial appraisals and develop project management strategies
  • Manage planning processes, collaborate with external consultants, and liaise with authorities
  • Handle Building Warrant applications
  • Develop and implement PPM strategies
  • Lead project teams and ensure statutory compliance
  • Prepare and coordinate design and contract documentation, oversee procurement and tendering, and administer contracts
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations
  • Manage Party Wall surveys, notices, and awards
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, and external inputs
  • Review site reports and support tenant documentation
  • Coordinate scheme handover and management with internal teams
  • Maintain proper document management according to PREM policy

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in building surveying within commercial property management
  • Strong work ethic and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Assertive leadership and guiding external consultants
  • Creative problem-solving for development projects
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent negotiation and organizational skills
  • MRICS qualification or equivalent
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
  • Effective time management and autonomous working ability
  • Commitment to health and safety, compliance, and commercial awareness
